What to expect and what to bring:

WHAT IS YOGA NIDRA?
It is a modality of mediation that anyone from children to seniors can do and it is one of the best and easiest ways to start and maintain a meditative or Yoga practice. Yoga Nidra works with the autonomic nervous system. The autonomic nervous system regulates processes of the body that take place without a conscious effort (heartbeat, breathing, digestion and blood flow). This system also includes the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems.

What is Sound Therapy?
Sound healing is an ancient practice that harnesses the power of sound vibrations to promote healing and relaxation. In this practice we will be using Tibetan Sound Bowls to facilitate the frequencies required to meet the vibrations of the body. Sound vibrations have a powerful effect on our minds and bodies. Research shows us that sound healing can slow down our brain waves and put our bodies in a very relaxed, dreamlike state. It has been proven to help with certain physical and mental health conditions.

What to expect?
Children will expect to walk into a galaxy of stars on the ceiling and walls... the soft sound of music to set the tone while they get comfy. We will do a little movement around the room to get the body relaxed and ready for Yoga Nidra...then they will nestle into their own cozy nests. A short meditative journey will begin to calm the mind and prepare for the benefits of Yoga Nidra and Sound Therapy. 
The class will last about 1 hr - 40 mins of Yoga Nidra and Sound Therapy / 20 mins to get settled and then to slowly wake and stretch. 


What to bring?
A water bottle
Small throws for warmth 
Pillow for head and /or knees
Yoga mat (We do have extra's available) 
A covering for the eyes if preferred
Socks to keep feet warm


What else do I need to know?

 

  • Please arrive 15 mins early to get settled so we can start on time. The doors will be locked once the session begins to allow for no interruptions,

  • All participants must pre-register by the day before at the latest, 

  • We ask that everyone takes a bathroom break before we begin,

  • This class is for 8+ years only (No exceptions) 

  • This is a session whereby is it necessary for complete quiet. If a child cannot remain quiet throughout the session and causes disruption, they will be asked to step outside the mediation area. 

  • If your child is nervous to attend, a parent may attend for the first time, however this is a class geared to children.... classes for adults will be announced at a later date.
